About Us

Who We Are

Our Story
At West Coast Warriors Taekwondo, we believe everyone holds the potential to become a true champion – strong in body, mind, and character.
We are deeply committed to offering that opportunity to all.
Through the discipline of traditional taekwondo, we cultivate six foundational life skills:
Discipline, Honesty, Respect, Communication, Self-Esteem, and Belief.
These values shape our leadership program and guide each student’s journey on and off the mats. Training at our school is more than earning belts – it’s about building confidence, resilience, and leadership through focused practice, community support, and personal challenge. We honour the roots of taekwondo by upholding the highest standards and preserving its time-honoured traditions.
Competition is part of this tradition. In tournaments, students face real challenges that test their courage, strategy, and emotional strength. These experiences deepen respect for the art, accelerate personal growth, and build character,
not just through victory, but through perseverance and sportsmanship.
Our mission is to shape future leaders who carry these principles into their lives and
communities with pride, purpose, and an unwavering belief in themselves.

Sarah James
Legacy Coach, 2nd Degree Black Belt
Sarah has always felt connected to Taekwondo as part of her culture, even though she began training later in life. Starting her journey as a mother of three, she quickly embraced the art’s history and its values of discipline, respect, honesty, courtesy, and confidence. What began as a personal pursuit soon became a family passion, with her youngest child—and later her husband—joining her on the mats. The ATA community has played a meaningful role in her growth, and she brings enthusiasm and a “learning never stops” mindset to every class.
She earned her Culinary Arts Diploma in 2004 and built a diverse career in the food industry before moving into sales and human resources. When she’s not training, Sarah enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and expressing her creativity through painting, drawing, and music.

Michael James
Legacy Coach, Red Belt
Michael James joined Taekwondo in 2024 as the final member of the James family to step onto the mats, quickly proving that he was a natural fit. His calm confidence and strong leadership skills—shaped through years of coaching his daughter’s activities—shine through in every class. Michael values discipline, confidence, and family connection, making Taekwondo a perfect extension of the principles he lives by, always keeping fun at the heart of learning. He holds a diploma in mechanical design and brings the same curiosity and problem‑solving mindset to his training. Outside of Taekwondo, Michael enjoys reading, learning new things, staying active through sports, travelling, and spending time outdoors.
